Protection against fire need not be complicated. Even the simplest things can help save you and your loved ones from fire. here are basic steps of fire prevention.
1) ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENTS:
Be very careful about the do-it-yourself electrical project: many homes fires are caused by improper electrical work.
always use a qualified electrician.
When using electrical equipment, ensure the followings:
- The electrical appliances do not have loose or damaged cords or plugs.
- The outlets are not overloaded with plugs.
- you are not running electrical wires under rugs or have furniture.
- you are not overstretching an extension cord
Some signs of electrical system problems:
- You have to unplug one appliance before connecting another.
- you have to use extension cords or 'octopus' outlets extensively.
- Fuses blow or circuit breakers trip frequently.
- Lights dim when you switch on another appliance.
